Have Your Cake, with Cherry Blossoms on the Side, in D.C.

If you are lucky enough to live in the Washington, D.C. area, then you know that spring is almost upon us and that the National Cherry Blossom Festival is just around the corner. Indeed, starting on March 26th and lasting through the 10th of April, our nation’s capital turns into a burst of pink, beautiful, blooming cherry blossoms, a vision that makes me happy just thinking about it! For those of us who don’t live in D.C., there is still the great option of visiting. Hum… I think I might make a weekend out of it and enjoy all this beautiful city has to offer.

But if I do decide to venture to Washington for this spring feast, then top of my places-to-try list is Cake Love, supposedly the best cake shop in the world. From the look of it — have seen a recent food show on it and explored their website — it does not seem like the typical overstatement. Quite the contrary actually, words and pictures can’t possibly do those deliciously beautiful creations justice.

Run by the lovely Warren Brown who is also the master chef at Cake Love, the bakery features a special Cherry Blossom cupcake in honor of the festival. But don’t be fooled into thinking that this ex-lawyer-turned-pastry-chef’s creative concoctions end there! Oh no, Chef Brown’s bakery also features some incredible chocolate cakes — try the My Downfall™ for a total chocolate overdose! — brownies, éclairs and even three lines of special needs Green Label cakes (Vegan, Gluten-free and Low Sugar). Something for everyone indeed!

This way, you can totally have your cherry blossoms and eat your cake too! For peak blossom season, visit the NCB Festival on Twitter. And, of course, you’ll find Cake Love on Twitter too!
